How this was checked

Every claim below is either (a) a direct contradiction between the agency's own two files — the Master SEP workbook's internal tracker vs. the client-facing PDF report — which requires no outside verification, or (b) independently reconfirmed by visiting the live Reddit pages directly (via browser, logged out) on 17 Sep 2026, roughly two weeks after the report's own most recent tracked activity. Nothing here is inferred from tone or vibes — every finding below cites the specific row, sheet, page, or live URL it comes from.

campaign arc — accuracy of the record gets worse, not better, as it goes on
Finding 1 · Confirmed false

The report's "organic growth" story is fabricated

Confirmed — document vs document

All three "posts from users outside our seeding" are the agency's own tracked work

The report's Section 2 claims: "Organic activity: r/FiniAIOfficial is already receiving posts from users outside our seeding, an early sign the community is pulling interest on its own." This is repeated as headline Key Insight #5: "The community has its own pulse: organic posts from non-seeded users under two months old are an unusually good early signal." The report's own screenshot (Section 4) names the three "organic" posts and their (real Reddit) authors: u/_Monkey_D_Luffy_7, u/Firm_Spray5209, u/Grand-Effect5187.

The Master SEP's own Reddit Tracker sheet shows all three as the agency's own scoped, tracked, posted work:

Report calls it"What makes an AI customer support tool actually useful?" — organic, from u/_Monkey_D_Luffy_7
contradicts
Tracker row 34Sep · Thread · same exact title · reddit.com/r/FiniAIOfficial/s/3BHMYKqwZG · posted 2026-09-02 · Status: Live
Report calls it"Where do AI support agents still struggle?" — organic, from u/Firm_Spray5209
contradicts
Tracker row 30Sep · Thread · same exact title · posted 2026-09-01 · Status: Live
Report calls it"Is automation always worth it?" — organic, from u/Grand-Effect5187
contradicts
Tracker row 20Aug · Thread · same exact title · posted 2026-08-26 · Status: Live

Three for three. There is no ambiguity here — the exact same thread titles, on the exact same subreddit, appear in the agency's own tracker as their own posted work, dated before the report was written, while the report to Fini presents them as unaffiliated third-party activity used to argue the community is growing on its own.

Finding 2 · Confirmed false, independently reproduced live

The claimed Google ranking doesn't exist

Confirmed — live search, both regions, 17 Sep 2026

The report's Section 2 shows r/FiniAIOfficial ranking on page one for "FINI AI reviews" and "FINI AI"

Report, Section 2 (verbatim)"Fini AI is already showing up on Google for brand and review searches, with r/FiniAIOfficial part of that picture within the community's first weeks" — illustrated with screenshots showing r/FiniAIOfficial at position #9 for "FINI AI reviews" and the "demos vs real customers" thread at position #6 for "FINI AI," plus a mobile screenshot of the same.

Ran both exact queries live, logged out, in both the US and India regions (India tested specifically because the report's own audience-geography data claims India leads every thread):

QueryRegionr/FiniAIOfficial or any Reddit result on page 1?
"FINI AI reviews"USNot found
"FINI AI reviews"IndiaNot found
"FINI AI"USNot found
"FINI AI"IndiaNot found

Zero Reddit results appear on page one for either query, in either region. The actual top results are AppSumo, G2, FeaturedCustomers, and Fini's own site — no r/FiniAIOfficial, no Reddit thread, anywhere. This reproduces the exact experience the client independently reported ("I can't find it") before this check was run.

The most likely honest explanation: the mobile screenshot in the report looks like a personal device that had itself recently visited r/FiniAIOfficial — Google can surface a personalized/recent-history boost for pages a specific signed-in device has visited, which is not the same as genuine ranking a prospect would see. Presenting a personalized result as brand-wide "Google visibility" is misleading regardless of whether it was deliberate.

Finding 3 · Confirmed false

The report's "nothing was removed" claim is false

Confirmed — document vs document

The report's Section 7 states there were no moderation issues at all

Report, Section 7 — "Challenges Faced" (verbatim)"Nothing to flag: all 3 threads and 12 comments went live as planned, nothing was removed, and no subreddit ran into moderation issues. A clean execution window."

The Master SEP's Reddit Tracker sheet, counted programmatically:

Same numbers, as a table:

Comments121250%
Total231438%

A third subreddit, r/smartstacks, appears in the tracker with 8 link mentions — both threads posted there were removed, and effectively all of its comments were removed too. r/smartstacks is not named anywhere in the Performance Report; the report only discusses r/FiniAIOfficial and r/USNetwork. Even r/USNetwork, the report's headline "strongest performer," had 4 of its own comments removed — also undisclosed; the report cites only the one surviving thread and its remaining comments.

Live re-check, 17 Sep 2026r/smartstacks is now showing "r/smartstacks is banned" when visited directly — this isn't just two removed posts anymore, Reddit has banned the entire subreddit. Whatever got both posts pulled there evidently continued, or the subreddit was already low-quality enough to be a bad venue in the first place. Either way, one of the three subreddits this campaign posted to no longer exists.
r/FiniAIOfficial Live, but hollow

Front page top 3 posts are the 3 "organic" posts — all agency-authored, all 0 comments. Weekly visitors down 24→19 since the report.

r/USNetwork Live, decaying

Report's "strongest performer." 4 of its comments already removed; the account behind its most first-person Fini-mention comment has since been deleted too (comment text remains, authored by "[deleted]").

r/smartstacks ✕ Banned by Reddit

Never disclosed in the report. Both threads removed; subreddit itself is now gone entirely.

Finding 4 · Documented in the agency's own files

The execution plan itself describes account manipulation, not organic engagement

From the Roadmap & Batch-level-issues sheets

"Account Warm-Up," single-account posting, and undisclosed multi-persona comment scripts

The Roadmap sheet lists, as a planned task: "Brand & Subreddit Accounts Warm-Up — Gradually build account activity through natural posting and interactions", with the stated impact "Increases account credibility and reduces moderation risks." "Accounts" (plural) being deliberately aged/warmed to look credible and evade moderation is a textbook description of sockpuppet-account cultivation — not a single disclosed brand account.

The agency's own Batch level issues sheet — an internal QA note, not written for the client — confirms this is already happening: "All seven share one structure... Posted from one account they read as a content calendar, which is what moderators look for." and separately recommends: "Four to six weeks of substantive commenting before the first post goes up... Same-author detection is trivial" — i.e., explicit guidance on how to avoid Reddit's own anti-spam detection, not how to build a genuine community.

The Reddit Comments sheet scripts entire fabricated multi-person conversations under a single thread — 4–5 differently-named "commenters" per thread, all internally marked "Approved," written in first person as real customers. One (thread: "Why do AI support bots feel great in demos...") reads: "Have you checked out fini? Their team enforced a strict 14 day scoped rollout for us, which completely prevented that demo and reality disappointment.." — posing as an independent customer testimonial with no disclosure. This exact line appears live on Reddit per Tracker row 37 (Sep, comment, "Live").

Identity mismatch on the subreddit's own moderator account: the report's own screenshot (Section "6.2") shows the welcome post authored by Reddit account u/chloe_bennett84, with the post body reading: "Hi, I'm Akash. I work in the community experience at Fini and I set up this sub." The account's username does not match the identity it claims — a randomly-named account is posting as a specific, named real employee.

Obbserv content calendar "one account" chloe_bennett84 poses as "Akash" Sufficient-Control55 "demos vs reality" post Ok_Top3052 compliance post BuyNice43 r/USNetwork post _Monkey_D_Luffy_7 "organic" post #1 Firm_Spray5209 "organic" post #2 Grand-Effect5187 "organic" post #3
7 differently-named accounts, one internally-acknowledged content source — 3 of them are the "organic" posts from Finding 1
Live re-check, 17 Sep 2026 — correction includedRe-visited the actual live threads directly. The welcome post is still up, still authored by u/chloe_bennett84 claiming to be "Akash" — independently reconfirmed outside the report's own screenshot. The "Have you checked out fini? Their team enforced a strict 14 day scoped rollout..." comment is still live, authored by u/Naive-Ice-5508 — an earlier pass through this same live check misread a truncated page fetch and incorrectly reported this one as deleted; corrected here. What is genuinely confirmed: on the r/USNetwork thread, the account behind "we started using Fini, and it shifted our focus toward whether the customer's issue was actually resolved..." (tracker rows 16/25/31 — resubmitted three times after two earlier removals before finally landing "Live") now shows as [deleted] — the account is gone, though Reddit still displays the comment text itself. One promotional-comment account gone is a real, if modest, data point; it doesn't move the needle the way two would have, and the correction matters more than the number.
Direct contradiction with Fini's own brief

Fini's Brand Questionnaire (same workbook) explicitly said the opposite

Question 4 answer, in the same Master SEP file: "On Reddit specifically: helpful-first, not promotional... disclose affiliation rather than posing as a neutral stranger." The scripted, undisclosed, multi-persona comment approach directly contradicts Fini's own stated instruction, inside the very same document.

Finding 5 · What actually checks out

To be fair — not everything here is bad

Credit where due

Some real self-review discipline exists

  • The subreddit (r/FiniAIOfficial) and welcome-post structure were genuinely set up and are live, matching the scoped deliverable.
  • The Reddit Threads sheet shows an actual internal QA gate: two drafts were self-rejected before posting ("At what point does a support team need automation instead of more hires?" — rejected for reading as arguing for job cuts; "What is the biggest bottleneck..." — also rejected), and the Batch level issues notes are unusually candid about the astroturfing risk in their own drafts, even if the fix applied (rewording) doesn't address the underlying problem.
  • The chosen topics (compliance in fintech, reopen-rate vs response-time, per-resolution pricing) are genuinely well-matched to the themes in Fini's own Brand Questionnaire — the content strategy's subject matter is sound even though its execution and disclosure are not.
  • Roughly the contracted volume (3 threads / 12 comments per month) was attempted each month, even accounting for the removals.
Reconciliation

Scope vs. what actually happened

Report claimsWhat the agency's own tracker shows
"3 threads + 12 seed comments; 100% live, nothing pending"13 thread attempts (11 live, 2 removed) and 24 comment attempts (12 live, 12 removed) across the period
"Nothing was removed, no moderation issues"38% of all tracked threads+comments were removed by moderators; a full removal wipeout on an entire third subreddit (r/smartstacks) never mentioned in the report
"Organic activity...from users outside our seeding" (3 posts, Key Insight #5)All 3 named posts are the agency's own tracked, self-authored work
Only r/FiniAIOfficial + r/USNetwork usedr/smartstacks also used (8 tracker rows), entirely unreported
"Already showing up on Google" — r/FiniAIOfficial ranks #9 for "FINI AI reviews," #6 for "FINI AI"Reproduces on neither query, in the US or India, live-checked 17 Sep 2026
Forward plan

Should the "Way Forward" plan be approved as-is?

No. It proposes scaling the same undisclosed, single/few-account, scripted approach to greater volume and reach, without addressing any of the root problems its own internal QA notes already identified.

Proposed next stepAssessment
Scale up owned posting frequencyDon't approve yet — more volume on the same unresolved account/disclosure pattern means more exposure, not more safety
Add image postsNeutral / fine — doesn't change the compliance picture either way
Post on additional external subredditsNeeds constraint — should be Fini's actual named target subreddits (r/CustomerSuccess, r/SaaS, r/startups, r/fintech per Fini's own brief), not more unrelated communities like r/smartstacks/r/USNetwork
Seed comments on other people's high-traffic threadsDon't approve yet — same undisclosed-testimonial pattern, now on threads Fini doesn't moderate, in front of a bigger, less friendly audience
Lean into compliance/enterprise topicsFine — good subject-matter judgment, keep it, fix the execution around it
Watch the pricing narrative, track indexingFine — reasonable monitoring practice

Every claim in the report, checked

A complete pass through the report end to end, section by section. "Cannot verify" means the underlying data (Reddit's own per-post view/reach analytics) is private to the account that posted it and isn't independently checkable from outside — not a euphemism for false, just an honest limit.

Correction, for the record

An earlier pass through this same live-verification exercise reported that the "Have you checked out fini? Their team enforced a strict 14 day scoped rollout..." comment had been deleted. That was wrong — a truncated page fetch was misread. The comment is still live, under u/Naive-Ice-5508. What is genuinely confirmed is narrower: the account behind a different comment on r/USNetwork ("we started using Fini, and it shifted our focus...") now shows as deleted, though its text remains visible. Flagging this correction here rather than quietly fixing it, since an audit that holds someone else's report to a high bar owes the same standard to itself.

Recommendations

What to actually do next

1. Pause approval of the next-period plan until this is addressed directly

Send the three confirmed-false claims (organic growth, nothing removed, Google ranking) back to Obbserv in writing and ask for a corrected report. How they respond to being shown their own tracker — and to a live search they can run themselves — is itself useful signal.

2. Ask for the actual account roster

Request every Reddit username posting on Fini's behalf, including the "chloe_bennett84" account and every "organic" persona named in the report. A legitimate vendor can provide this; reluctance is itself an answer.

3. Require disclosed affiliation on every post going forward, no exceptions

This was already Fini's own instruction in the Brand Questionnaire. Make it a contractual, checkable requirement — every post/comment must state the Fini affiliation in the first line, matching what the welcome post itself claims to already do.

4. Restrict subreddit targeting to Fini's named list

r/CustomerSuccess, r/CustomerService, r/SaaS, r/startups, r/fintech — the communities Fini's own brief says its audience actually lives in. Drop r/smartstacks and r/USNetwork, which aren't on that list and have already both had content removed.

5. Weigh this against the existing pattern with this vendor

This is the same vendor already flagged for delivering an "evidently AI-generated" Reddit post with a broken link, and for giving no verifiable client references on the separate G2/Capterra review-generation conversation. This report is a third, independently-confirmed data point on the same vendor relationship — worth factoring into the renew/exit decision already being tracked in the review-generation workbook.
